Do you feel that Socialized Medicine can help the United States Healthcare System?

Yes, I believe it could help keep the cost of healthcare under control. In the Socialized Healthcare System the government has control over the prices charged not the insurance companies, this helps prevent the prices from becoming as outrageous as they have here in the United States.

Has Peru always had Socialized Medicine?

Yes, as far as i know. We also have privatized healthcare and private insurance companies. So if you have the resources you could choose to pay for the privatized care. The majority of the people who utilized the Socialized System were of lower Socio-Economic status.

Are there many doctors? Are they well paid?

Yes there are various doctors for each specialty at each clinic or hospital just like the United States. The doctors who worked in the Socialized Health Care System did not earn as much as the doctors that accepted private insurance, or had a private practice.

Do you feel you received adequate care, in a timely manner?

Yes, appointments were made for non-emergent visits and those with emergent needs were seen on the same day by the doctor or sent to the hospital as needed.

Did you have a choice of the doctor you got to see?

If you went to a socialized clinic or hospital you had a choice of doctor is you made an appointment and waited for that doctor. If you had an emergency or were seen on the same day you were able to see the doctor that was available.

Were there any negative aspects of Socialed Medicine?

One of the negative aspects of Peru's socialized medicine was the lack of sufficent medications. Medications were provided through the socialized system's clinics and hospitals at a lower cost to the patient, but when there was not enough they would have to go to the pharmacy and pay a higher price.
